Involves photographing the inner structures of the eye; also known as the fundus. The main structures that can be viewed on a fundus photo are the central and peripheral retina, optic disc and macula, which are important for the screening and diagnosis of Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy and various other ocular diseases and conditions.
Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT)
The OCT is used to obtain high-resolution images of the retina and anterior segment. OCT’s use an imaging technique, which works similar to ultrasound by simply using light waves instead of sound waves to show cross-sections of tissue layers of the retina and / or cornea. The layers within the retina can be differentiated and retinal thickness can be measured to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of retinal diseases and conditions.
